Zycosan is a prescription intramuscular injection indicated for the control of clinical signs associated with osteoarthritis in horses. Approved by the FDA in December 2022, it was the first injectable pentosan polysulfate product to reach the market. The active ingredient is a semi-synthetic polysulfated xylan, a heparin-like compound. The full course is four weekly injections over 28 days, which makes it a lower-frequency option than protocols requiring dosing every few days.
