Vetrimec (Ivermectin) 1% Sterile Solution Injection for Cattle and Swine

For cattle and swine.

Product Description

Vetrimec 1% is an injectable ivermectin parasiticide for cattle and swine, giving broad-spectrum internal and external parasite control in a single low-volume subcutaneous dose.

In cattle, it treats and controls gastrointestinal roundworms, including inhibited Ostertagia ostertagi, lungworms, cattle grubs, sucking lice, and mange mites. In swine, it covers gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworms, lice, and mange mites.

The appeal for a producer is the breadth. One injection handles the worm burden and the external parasites at the same time, which matters at processing or at turnout when you have the whole group through the chute once and want to make it count.

Parasite Coverage

Cattle: gastrointestinal roundworms including inhibited Ostertagia ostertagi, lungworms, cattle grubs, sucking lice, mange mites

Swine: gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworms, lice, mange mites

How to Use

Give subcutaneously only, at the dose on the label for body weight.

In cattle, administer subcutaneously in front of or behind the shoulder.

In swine, administer subcutaneously in the neck, immediately behind the ear.

Use clean equipment and a fresh needle, and change needles regularly when working through a group. Weigh or estimate weights accurately rather than dosing by eye, since underdosing is a significant driver of resistance.

Withdrawal Times

Cattle: 35 days before slaughter
Swine: 18 days before slaughter

Do not use in female dairy cattle of breeding age. Do not use in calves to be processed for veal.

Observe withdrawal times without exception. Residue violations are traceable back to the producer.

Important Safety Information

For subcutaneous injection in cattle and swine only. Not for use in other species.

Treating cattle for grubs when they are in a sensitive stage of migration can cause host-parasite reactions, so follow label guidance on timing relative to grub season. Your veterinarian or extension office can advise on the right window for your area.

Avoid self-injection and wash hands after use. Keep out of reach of children. Store as directed on the label and protect from light.

Talk to your veterinarian

Parasite resistance to ivermectin is a real and growing problem in cattle operations, and blanket whole-herd treatment on a calendar schedule is part of what drives it. Fecal egg counts and fecal egg count reduction testing tell you whether the product is still working on your farm, and targeted treatment preserves effectiveness far longer than routine dosing.

Worth a conversation with your veterinarian or extension specialist about a parasite management plan rather than treating by habit.
