Vetericyn Plus VF Hydrogel is a sprayable, viscous formulation for moistening and cleaning wounds. It's built on hypochlorous acid, a compound animals' own immune cells produce, and the gel is formulated so it can be applied to tissue without harming the fibroblast cells involved in healing.
The gel consistency is the point. Where a thin liquid runs straight off a leg or a flank, this clings — which keeps a wound bed moist and covered, and makes it practical to treat vertical surfaces and awkward spots. How to Use
Clean the wound first, then spray the hydrogel to cover the affected area. Reapply as directed on the label or by your veterinarian, and whenever the gel has dried or worn away. Bandage over it if the wound is being wrapped.
Don't touch the nozzle to the wound. If you're treating more than one animal, wipe the tip between them.

Topical wound care is for minor, superficial wounds. A veterinarian should see anything that is deep, bleeding heavily, gaping enough to need sutures, the result of a bite, or located over a joint. Puncture wounds and animal bites are the classic trap — they look small on the surface and abscess days later. Get a vet involved for swelling, heat, discharge, foul odor, fever, or a wound that isn't improving, and for anything on a horse's lower leg, where tendon and joint involvement is a real risk and proud flesh is common.
