Vet Classics Protegrity GI Probiotic Soft Chews for Dogs and Cats

For dogs and cats over 6 weeks of age.

Product Description

Protegrity GI is a probiotic soft chew for dogs and cats, built around the patented Bacillus subtilis PB6 strain and paired with a prebiotic and digestive enzymes. It's aimed at situations that knock gut flora out of balance: a course of antibiotics, a deworming, a diet change, boarding, travel, or the general stress of an illness.

Bacillus subtilis is a spore-forming probiotic, which is the practical advantage over refrigerated strains — spores are more stable at room temperature and survive the trip through stomach acid better, so what's on the label has a better chance of reaching the intestine. The prebiotic fructooligosaccharides feed the organisms once they get there, and the enzyme blend supports the breakdown of food for absorption.

One chew a day covers a dog or a cat of any size, which makes it simple in a multi-pet household.

Active Ingredients (per soft chew)

Bacillus subtilis PB6 — 100 mg
Proprietary probiotic and enzyme blend — 100 mg (Bifidobacterium bifidum, Enterococcus faecium, Lactobacillus casei)
Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) — 50 mg
Brewers Yeast — 50 mg
Zinc (as zinc propionate) — 260 mcg
Selenium (as selenomethionine) — 2 mcg

Contains 1 × 10¹⁰ live microorganisms per soft chew.

Inactive ingredients: calcium sulfate, canola oil, dried potato product, flaxseed, glycerin, lecithin, mixed tocopherols, natural flavoring, rosemary extract, sorbic acid, tapioca starch, vegetable oil, water.

How to Use

Give one chew daily for dogs and cats of all sizes, or as directed by your veterinarian. For use in animals over 6 weeks of age.

If your pet is on an antibiotic, ask your veterinarian about spacing the doses — probiotics are commonly given a couple of hours apart from antibiotic doses.

Give it consistently and give it time. Probiotics work through sustained daily use, and it's worth continuing through the full stressful period, whether that's a boarding stay, a diet transition, or a course of medication.

Additional Information

For dogs and cats. This is a nutritional supplement, not an FDA-approved drug, and not a substitute for veterinary diagnosis or treatment.

Store as directed on the label with the container closed. Probiotic viability depends on proper storage.

Keep out of reach of children and pets. The chews are palatable, so don't leave the container where an animal can get into it.

Persistent diarrhea or vomiting, weight loss, blood or mucus in the stool, or a pet who has stopped eating needs an exam rather than a supplement. Chronic digestive signs can come from parasites, inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatic insufficiency, or a foreign body, and none of those resolve with probiotics. In cats especially, more than a day or two without eating is its own medical problem.
