Surpass® (1% Diclofenac Sodium) Topical Anti-Inflammatory Cream — For Horses
Surpass is the first and only FDA-approved diclofenac formulation for veterinary use — a prescription topical NSAID cream applied directly over the affected joint. It is indicated for the control of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis (OA) in the tarsal, carpal, metacarpophalangeal, metatarsophalangeal, and proximal interphalangeal joints (hock, knee, fetlock, and pastern) in horses. Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug of the phenylacetic acid class, delivered here in Boehringer Ingelheim's patented Wisdom® liposomal formulation. Because it's applied only where it's needed and in very small amounts, Surpass targets the affected joint directly and avoids the higher systemic exposure that comes with oral or injectable NSAIDs.
