Rx Essentials Powder for Dogs
For dogs only.
Product Description
Rx Essentials is a broad based daily multivitamin and mineral powder for dogs, covering the vitamin, mineral and trace element range in a single scoop.
It is a genuinely complete formula rather than a partial one. All the B vitamins are there, along with A, C, D and E, the major minerals in citrate and chelated forms, and the trace elements that get skipped in cheaper products: selenium as selenomethionine, chromium as polynicotinate, copper as glycinate. Spirulina, milk thistle and kelp sit alongside them.
Two formulation choices are worth pointing out. The minerals are in citrate and amino acid chelate forms rather than oxides, which are generally better absorbed. And the formula contains no added phosphorus or sodium, which makes it usable for dogs on diets where those are being restricted, a situation that rules out a lot of general multivitamins.
It is NASC certified and mixes into wet or dry food.

How to Use
Mix into wet or dry food. The label directs one scoop (1 teaspoon) daily per 25 to 50 lbs of body weight, with meals, or as directed by your veterinarian.
The 8 oz container holds roughly 45 scoops, so a dog in the 25 to 50 lb range gets about a month and a half from it.
Give it with food rather than on an empty stomach. The fat soluble vitamins are absorbed better that way, and it is easier on the stomach.
Additional Information
For dogs only. The manufacturer specifically says not to use this product for cats or horses, which have different requirements. A separate Rx Essentials for Cats formula exists.
Contains desiccated beef liver and a soya based carrier. 8 oz. This is a nutritional supplement, not an FDA-approved drug.
Keep out of reach of children and other animals.
Talk to your veterinarian
If your dog is already on a complete commercial diet or another supplement, mention this one, so the fat soluble vitamins and trace minerals are not doubled up.
