Rx Clay Powder for Dogs and Cats
For dogs and cats.
Product Description
Rx Clay is a single ingredient adsorbent powder, hydrated calcium aluminosilicate clay, used to firm up loose stools and settle bowel function.
The clay works mechanically rather than pharmacologically. It is not absorbed into the body at all. It passes through the digestive tract binding water, toxins and irritants along the way, which is what firms the stool and reduces the urgency. Because nothing crosses into the bloodstream, it sits comfortably alongside most other things a pet is taking.
The label gives two separate rates, a higher one for an active bout of diarrhea and a lower maintenance rate, which makes it usable both as something you reach for during a flare and as ongoing support for a pet with chronically unreliable stools.
It is hypoallergenic, vegetarian and unflavored.
Active Ingredients Per 1 Scoop
- Hydrated calcium aluminosilicate clay, 500 mg
How to Use
Mix into food. The label directs:
- For diarrhea, one level scoop (1/8 tsp) per 10 lbs of body weight, twice daily
- For maintenance, one level scoop per 25 lbs, or as directed by your veterinarian
Keep water available. Loose stools cost an animal fluid, and firming the stool does not replace what was already lost.
Space it apart from medications. An adsorbent binds what is in the gut with it, so giving it a couple of hours away from other oral products avoids blunting them.

Diarrhea that runs past a couple of days, or comes with blood, vomiting, or a pet who is flat and not drinking, needs a look rather than more clay.
