Rx B12 for Dogs and Cats 250mcg/mL
For dogs and cats.
Product Description
Rx B12 is a flavored liquid cobalamin supplement at 250 mcg per mL, formulated to raise serum B12 in dogs and cats that are running low.
B12 deficiency in pets is usually a problem of absorption rather than intake. The vitamin is absorbed at the far end of the small intestine, so chronic intestinal disease, pancreatic insufficiency, or anything that disrupts that segment can leave a pet deficient on an otherwise complete diet. Low B12 is common enough in chronic GI cases that many veterinarians check it as a matter of course and supplement when it comes back low.
Oral supplementation at adequate doses has been shown to raise serum cobalamin in dogs and cats, which is the practical appeal here. A flavored liquid given at home is a considerably easier proposition than a course of injections, and the liquid format makes weight based dosing straightforward across a 6 lb cat and a 90 lb dog.
Active Ingredients Per 1 mL
- Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin), 250 mcg
Other ingredients: vegetable glycerin, water, fructose, natural flavorings, potassium sorbate.
How to Use
Give by mouth or on food. The label directs:
- Cats and small dogs, 1 mL daily
- Medium dogs 25 to 50 lbs, 2 mL daily
- Large dogs 50 to 100 lbs, 3 mL daily
Give it consistently. Rebuilding a depleted store takes sustained daily dosing rather than occasional use.
If your veterinarian started this because of a low B12 result, keep the recheck they scheduled. The point of supplementing is to move the number, and the only way to know is to measure it again.
Additional Information
For dogs and cats. 4 fl oz (120 mL). This is a nutritional supplement, not an FDA-approved drug.
Note this is the 250 mcg/mL strength. Rx Vitamins also makes an Rx B12 Forte at 1000 mcg/mL with completely different dosing, so check the strength on the bottle against what your veterinarian asked for.
Safety in pregnant or breeding animals has not been proven. Store at room temperature away from direct sunlight and keep out of reach of children.

B12 is usually supplemented because a blood test showed it was low, so it is worth having the level checked rather than guessing, and rechecked once you have been giving it a while.
