Metronidazole (me-troe-ni-da-zole) is an antibiotic and antiparasitic medication that treats or prevents some bacterial infections and parasites. Metronidazole is often used to treat Giardia, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Trichomonas.

Consult with your veterinarian for proper dosage and course of treatment.
This medication should not be given to pets who are pregnant or nursing.
Use with caution on pets with liver conditions, on blood thinners or who are young (puppies and kittens)
Food and Drug Interactions
Other medications can interact with Metronidazole, be sure to disclose every medication and supplement that is given to your dog before starting Metronidazole.
Give with food
Keep away from children and other animals. Pregnant women should wear disposable gloves when giving doses or handling the drug and avoid inhaling any dust from split or crushed tablets. Skin or eyes exposed to powder or liquids containing the drug should immediately be washed or rinsed off thoroughly
Possible Side Effects
Common side effects that may occur include drooling, nausea, vomiting.
Other more serious side effects include diarrhea, weakness, and loss of appetite. Highly serious side effects are seizures and loss of coordination. Contact your vet ASAP if you pet is experiencing out of the normal side effects.
Contact your veterinarian if you believe your pet is experiencing side effects.
Store this medication in the original prescription bottle at room temperature and protected from light.
