Product Description
Muricin is a topical antibiotic ointment for bacterial skin infections in dogs, including superficial pyoderma caused by susceptible strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus intermedius. Mupirocin is a naturally occurring broad-spectrum antibiotic, formulated here at 20 mg per gram in a bland, water-washable polyethylene glycol base.
It's the option a veterinarian reaches for when an infection is localized enough to treat on the skin rather than systemically — a focal hot spot, a chin acne lesion, an interdigital area — which spares the dog a course of oral antibiotics.

How to Use
Apply a thin layer to the affected area as directed by your veterinarian, usually after cleaning and drying the site. A thin film is enough — more ointment doesn't work better, and a heavy layer is just more for the dog to lick off.
Keep your dog from licking the treated area while it absorbs. An Elizabethan collar or a light covering for ten to fifteen minutes after application usually does it.
Wash your hands after applying. Finish the full course your veterinarian prescribed even if the skin looks better, since stopping early is a common route to recurrence and resistance.

For topical use on the skin only. Not for ophthalmic use. Avoid contact with the eyes, and do not apply inside the ears or on mucous membranes unless your veterinarian directs it.
Contact your veterinarian if the treated area worsens, spreads, becomes more painful, develops discharge or odor, or fails to improve on the expected schedule. Widespread or deep pyoderma generally needs systemic antibiotics, and recurring skin infections usually point to an underlying cause — allergy, endocrine disease, or parasites — that topical treatment won't resolve.
