Liquid Hepato for Dogs and Cats, Chicken Flavor
For dogs and cats.
Product Description
Liquid Hepato is the liquid version of Rx Vitamins' milk thistle liver formula, in a chicken flavored base.
The liquid format is the reason to choose it over the capsule. Dosing is by body weight with a syringe or dropper, which lets a 7 lb cat and a 60 lb dog both get an accurate dose from the same bottle, and it solves the problem of an animal who will not take a capsule. For cats and small dogs in particular, a flavored liquid is a considerably easier daily proposition than pilling.
The formula centers on milk thistle standardized to 80% silymarin, which is the measure that matters since silymarin content varies widely between milk thistle products. Lecithin, alpha lipoic acid and B vitamins support the liver's working chemistry alongside it.
Active Ingredients Per 2 mL
- Milk thistle extract (80% silymarin, 30% silybinin), 100 mg
- Lecithin, 50 mg
- Calcium pantothenate, 10 mg
- Vitamin B1 (thiamine), 5 mg
- Vitamin B2 (riboflavin), 5 mg
- Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), 5 mg
- Alpha lipoic acid, 5 mg
- Vitamin B12, 10 mcg
How to Use
Follow your veterinarian's direction. The label directs 1 mL twice daily for each 10 to 20 lbs of body weight, for both dogs and cats.
Measure with a syringe rather than a spoon. The dose is small enough that the difference matters, and a syringe also lets you put it straight into the mouth or onto a small amount of food.
Give it consistently. Liver support works through sustained daily use rather than occasional dosing.
Additional Information
For dogs and cats. This is a nutritional supplement, not an FDA-approved drug.
Safety in pregnant or breeding animals has not been proven. Tell your veterinarian about everything your pet receives, since the liver processes most medications and interactions matter more here than in most categories.
Store as directed on the label with the cap closed and keep out of reach of children.
Talk to your veterinarian
Liver disease should be diagnosed and monitored rather than managed with a supplement alone. An exam before starting is a good idea, and if your pet is on this because of an abnormal blood result, keep the recheck bloodwork your veterinarian scheduled.
Yellowing of the gums, eyes or skin, a swollen abdomen, persistent vomiting, loss of appetite, or sudden lethargy need to be seen promptly.
