Joint Support with MSM for Dogs, Max Strength
For dogs.
Product Description
A max strength joint soft chew from Stratford combining the three standard cartilage ingredients, glucosamine, MSM and chondroitin, with omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidant support.
The ingredient list is conventional, and that is the point. Glucosamine and chondroitin supply cartilage building blocks, MSM is included for the sulfur it contributes to connective tissue, and the dose here is at the upper end of what this category delivers rather than a token amount. EPA and DHA add omega-3s, manganese supports cartilage formation, and vitamin E is in for antioxidant support.
The label sets a loading period, a higher dose for the first four to six weeks, then a lower maintenance dose. That is worth following rather than starting at maintenance, since it is how the ingredient levels are meant to build.
Available in 50 and 180 count. The 180 is the one for a large dog, since a dog over 90 lbs is taking four chews a day through the loading period.
Active Ingredients Per Chew
- Glucosamine HCl (shellfish), 500 mg
- MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), 400 mg
- Chondroitin (porcine), 200 mg
- EPA, 18 mg
- DHA, 12 mg
- Manganese, 10 mg
- Vitamin E, 18 IU
How to Use
Give daily by body weight, following the label or your veterinarian's direction. The label directs a higher initial dose for the first four to six weeks, then roughly half that for maintenance.
Give during or after a meal to reduce the chance of stomach upset.
Plan on six to eight weeks before judging the result, and keep your dog lean. Body weight is the single biggest factor you control in joint comfort.
Additional Information
For dogs only. This is a nutritional supplement, not an FDA-approved drug.
The glucosamine is shellfish derived. If your dog has a known shellfish sensitivity, talk to your veterinarian first. Safety in pregnant or breeding dogs has not been established.
Tell your veterinarian about any other joint product your dog is taking so the glucosamine and MSM are not doubled up. Store in a cool, dry place with the container closed and keep out of reach of children and pets, since the chews are palatable.
Talk to your veterinarian
If lameness worsens, stop giving it and contact your veterinarian.
