Itrafungol Solution Antifungal for Oral Use in Cats

Itrafungol is a prescription antifungal liquid used to treat ringworm in cats. Despite the name, ringworm isn't a worm at all — it's a fungal skin infection that causes patchy hair loss, scaly or crusty skin, and itching, and it spreads easily between cats and to people. Itrafungol is FDA-approved to treat ringworm caused by Microsporum canis, the most common culprit in cats. 

It comes as a ready-to-use, slightly yellow liquid containing 10 mg of itraconazole per mL, with a graduated syringe included so you can measure your cat's dose precisely — no pill-hiding required. 

What to expect

• A "week on, week off" schedule. The typical course is once-daily dosing during weeks 1, 3, and 5, with no medication given during weeks 2 and 4. The off weeks are intentional, not a break in treatment — itraconazole builds up in the skin and coat and keeps fighting the infection between doses. 
• Easy to give. It can be given with or without food. 
• Measured by weight. Your veterinarian will calculate the exact dose for your cat. Cats over 13 lbs may need the dose split into two syringes. 
• Finish the full course. Ringworm can look resolved on the surface before the fungus is fully cleared, so complete every treatment week as prescribed.

• For cats only. Wash your hands after handling.
• Not for cats with a known sensitivity to itraconazole; hasn't been shown safe in pregnant or nursing cats; use with caution in cats with liver or kidney problems. 
• Tell your vet about any other medications or supplements your cat is taking.
• Store at room temperature (68–77°F).
