Hepato Support for Dogs and Cats

For dogs and cats.

Product Description

Hepato Support is a milk thistle based liver supplement from Rx Vitamins, formulated for dogs and cats.

Milk thistle is the core of it, standardized to 80% silymarin, which is the measure that matters since silymarin content is what varies most between milk thistle products. Around it sits a package aimed at the liver's own working chemistry: choline, methionine and inositol are lipotropic nutrients involved in moving fat out of the liver, alpha lipoic acid is an antioxidant that recycles other antioxidants, and the B vitamins support the metabolic load a working liver carries.

The liver does a great deal of quiet work, and because it has real regenerative capacity, nutritional support is a reasonable long-term adjunct for a pet whose veterinarian is monitoring liver values or who is on a medication that is processed through the liver.

Available in 90 and 180 capsule bottles. The 180 is the practical size for a dog on twice daily dosing.

Active Ingredients Per Capsule

  • Milk thistle extract (80% silymarin, 30% silybinin), 100 mg
  • Inositol, 20 mg
  • Choline, 20 mg
  • DL-methionine, 20 mg
  • Pantothenic acid, 10 mg
  • Vitamin B1 (thiamine), 5 mg
  • Vitamin B2 (riboflavin), 5 mg
  • Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), 5 mg
  • Alpha lipoic acid, 5 mg
  • Vitamin B12, 10 mcg

How to Use

Follow your veterinarian's direction. The label directs one capsule twice daily for every 25 to 50 lbs of body weight in dogs, and one capsule daily for cats.

Give during or after a meal to reduce the chance of stomach upset. For cats and small dogs, the capsule can be opened and the contents mixed into wet food.

Give it consistently. Liver support works through sustained daily use rather than occasional dosing.

Additional Information

For dogs and cats. This is a nutritional supplement, not an FDA-approved drug.

Safety in pregnant or breeding animals has not been established. Tell your veterinarian about everything your pet receives, since the liver processes most medications and supplement interactions matter more here than in most categories.

Store in a cool, dry place with the container closed and keep out of reach of children.

Talk to your veterinarian

Liver disease should be diagnosed and monitored rather than managed with a supplement alone. An exam before starting is a good idea, and if your pet is on this because of an abnormal blood result, keep the recheck bloodwork your veterinarian scheduled.

Yellowing of the gums, eyes or skin, a swollen abdomen, persistent vomiting, loss of appetite, or sudden lethargy need to be seen promptly.
