Golden A5 Clipper
Oster Golden A5 Clipper
For dogs, cats, horses, cattle, goats, and sheep.
Product Description
The Golden A5 is one of the most widely used clippers in professional grooming and veterinary practice, and it's earned that position by being simple, durable, and repairable. It handles everything from general body grooming to precision clipping across any coat type, on companion animals and livestock alike.
A powerful universal motor drives it, with an insulated face plate that keeps the clipper running cooler against the skin during long sessions. The wider sweep cuts faster across a body, and the 12-foot insulated cord gives real working range around a grooming table or a stall.
The detachable blade system is the reason this clipper stays in service for decades. Blades swap in seconds, and the A5 takes the enormous range of Cryogen-X, Elite Cryogen-X, and Take-Down-Quick wide blades, so one clipper covers everything from a close surgical prep to a full body trim just by changing blades.
Choose Your Speed
Single Speed: up to 2,100 strokes per minute. The straightforward option, and plenty for general grooming, body work, and routine clipping.
Two Speed: up to 2,700 strokes per minute on high. The second speed cuts faster through thick or matted coats and speeds up large body work, while the lower speed stays quieter and gentler for sensitive animals and detail work.
If you're clipping regularly or working through heavy coats, the two speed is worth the difference. For occasional use and lighter coats, the single speed does the job.

How to Use
Oil the blade before each use and every ten to fifteen minutes during a session. Apply a few drops along the teeth and across the blade, run the clipper briefly, then wipe off the excess. Oiling is what keeps an A5 cutting well and running cool, and nearly every complaint about a clipper losing power traces back to a dry blade.
Grease the drive gear periodically, following the manual. Brush hair out of the blade and the clipper head after every use.
Work with the lay of the coat for a longer finish, or against it for a closer cut. Let the clipper's weight do the work rather than pressing down.
Safety
Blades get hot with extended use. Check the temperature against the back of your hand regularly and swap to a cool blade or pause when it warms up. Blade burn on an animal's skin happens quickly and is easy to avoid.
Take extra care around the face, ears, sanitary areas, and between paw pads, where skin is thin and loose. Keep the skin taut and work slowly.
Keep the cord clear of the animal and away from water. Unplug before cleaning or changing blades. Store out of reach of children and pets.
