Product Description

Glandex Medicated Spray is a leave-on topical for the irritation that comes with anal gland problems. Hydrocortisone reduces inflammation, redness, and swelling, while pramoxine provides topical relief from pain and itching. Oatmeal and lanolin soothe and moisturize the skin around the area, and the formula includes deodorizers to help with the odor that tends to accompany gland flare-ups.

It addresses the outside of the problem rather than the gland itself. A dog scooting on an already inflamed rear end makes the irritation worse, so taking the itch and discomfort down breaks that cycle while whatever is driving it gets sorted out. The pump applicator makes it easy to reach the area without much handling.

It's designed to work alongside the Glandex chews, which address stool consistency and gland function from the inside.

Ingredients

Active: Hydrocortisone, pramoxine hydrochloride

Other: Propylene glycol, water, SD alcohol 40B, glycerin, PEG-75 lanolin, hydrolyzed oats, benzyl alcohol.

How to Use

Apply to dry skin. Spray directly on the affected area around the anus and massage the liquid into the skin until absorbed. Applying to dry skin lets the product soak in properly.

Use no more than four times a day, or as directed by your veterinarian. Wash your hands after use.

Don't let your pet lick the treated area while it absorbs. A few minutes of distraction, or a recovery cone if your pet is persistent, is usually enough.

Do not use on puncture wounds, burns, or lacerations. Avoid contact with eyes. If product gets into the eyes, flush thoroughly with water and contact a medical professional.

Discontinue use and contact your veterinarian if irritation persists or worsens.

Store at room temperature. Protect from high temperatures and freezing. Keep out of reach of children.

Talk to your veterinarian

Scooting and rear-end licking have several possible causes beyond full glands, including fleas, tapeworms, allergies, and skin infection around the tail base. A topical with a steroid can quiet symptoms while the actual problem continues.

See your veterinarian if there's swelling, a firm lump beside the anus, discharge, bleeding, a foul smell, or an open or draining area, if your pet is painful when touched back there, or if the scooting keeps up despite treatment. An impacted gland can abscess and rupture, which is painful and needs medical attention rather than a spray.
