F.A. Granules (Omega-3 and Omega-6 Fatty Acid Supplement), 450gm

Heska F.A. Granules

For dogs.

Product Description

F.A. Granules is Heska's omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acid supplement for skin and coat, in a flavored granule that sprinkles onto food.

The fatty acids come from flaxseed oil rather than fish oil, which is the main thing that sets it apart. Flaxseed carries roughly twice the omega-3 content of marine lipids and is a good omega-6 source as well, it brings no heavy metal concern, and it does not have the fish smell that makes some dogs walk away from an oil-topped bowl. Choline, zinc, selenium, and vitamins A and E round out the formula.

Practically, granules beat capsules on several counts. They are easier to give than a gelcap, they mix into a prescription diet to make it more palatable rather than less, and the formula is stable with a three year shelf life, which matters because fatty acids are the supplements most likely to go rancid in a cupboard. The wide-mouth container comes with a 5 gram scoop so the dose adjusts cleanly by body weight.

Key Nutrients

• Omega-3 (linolenic acid) and omega-6 (linoleic acid) from flaxseed oil
• Vitamin A, vitamin E
• Choline chloride
• Zinc and selenium as amino acid chelates

How to Use

Sprinkle the labeled amount onto your dog's food daily using the enclosed 5 gram scoop, or as directed by your veterinarian. One container size covers every dog, with the dose scaled by weight.

Give it time. Skin and coat changes follow the growth of new coat, so plan on six to eight weeks of daily use before judging the result.

Fatty acids add fat and calories, so factor the dose into the daily total for a dog you are managing for weight.

Additional Information

For dogs. This is a nutritional supplement, not an FDA-approved drug.

Tell your veterinarian about any other omega or fish oil product your dog receives so the fatty acids are not doubled up. Store in a cool, dry place with the container closed and keep out of reach of children.
