Clear Ear is a routine ear cleanser for dogs and cats that cleans, dries, acidifies, and deodorizes in one step. Lactic and salicylic acids lower the pH inside the ear canal, which makes it a less hospitable environment for the organisms that cause ear problems, while the drying agents clear residual moisture — the single biggest contributor to ear trouble in floppy-eared dogs and any pet who swims or gets bathed often.

Aloe vera is included to soothe the canal, and the formula leaves a mild, clean scent. No rinsing required.

Ingredients

Deionized water, SD alcohol 40, propylene glycol, glycerin, aloe vera gel, lactic acid, salicylic acid, benzoic acid, benzyl alcohol, dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate.

How to Use

Fill the ear canal with the solution, then massage the base of the ear for several seconds — you should hear a squelching sound, which means the fluid is reaching down into the canal. Let your pet shake the head, then wipe the visible part of the ear and the canal opening with a cotton ball or gauze.

Never use a cotton swab inside the ear canal. It pushes debris deeper and risks damaging the eardrum.

Clean as often as your veterinarian recommends. Weekly is typical for maintenance, more often for dogs prone to problems or after swimming.

If your veterinarian has prescribed ear medication, clean first and let the ear dry before applying the medication, unless directed otherwise.

Do not use if the eardrum is ruptured or you're unsure whether it's intact. Stop and contact your veterinarian if cleaning causes pain, if there is discharge, a strong odor, redness, swelling, or bleeding, or if your pet is shaking the head, tilting it, or scratching persistently. Ear infections need diagnosis and prescription treatment — cleaning alone won't resolve one, and an alcohol-containing cleanser will sting an inflamed or ulcerated canal.
