Cimetidine (sye-met-i-deen) is a medication used to prevent and/or treat stomach ulcers in animals. Cimetidine is also used in the treatment of gastritis, esophagitis and gastric or esophageal reflux.
- Histamine blocker that reduces excessive stomach acid production
- Can help treat histamine release caused by mast cell tumors
Consult with your veterinarian for proper dosage and course of treatment.
Cimetidine should not be used in pets that have had an allergic (hypersensitive) or severe reaction to it or similar drugs in the past
This medication should be used with caution in older animals, animals with reduced liver or kidney function.
Food and Drug Interactions
Many drugs can interact with this medication, so be sure to tell your veterinarian and pharmacist what medications (including vitamins, supplements, or herbal therapies) you give your animal
Keep away from children and other animals. Not for Human consumption
Possible Side Effects
Cimetidine is tolerated well in most patients. If anything out of the ordinary does occur, contact your vet.
Contact your veterinarian if you believe your pet is experiencing side effects.
Store at room temperatures between 68° - 77°F.
