BLUE Life Protection Formula Adult Large Breed Healthy Weight Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe — Dog Food

Product Description

This recipe combines the two things large breed dogs benefit from most: fewer calories from fat, and joint support. Protein-rich deboned chicken leads the ingredient list, backed by wholesome whole grains including brown rice, garden vegetables, and antioxidant-rich fruit — with glucosamine and chondroitin added for the joints, and the fat content dialed back for dogs who need to lose a few pounds or hold steady.

Those two goals reinforce each other. Excess weight is one of the heaviest loads a large breed dog's joints carry, so keeping a big dog lean does more for long-term mobility than almost anything else an owner controls.

Every bag includes Blue Buffalo's LifeSource Bits: a cold-formed blend of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals selected by animal nutritionists and veterinarians. Cold-forming preserves nutrient potency that high-heat processing can degrade.

Made without chicken or poultry by-product meals, without corn, wheat, or soy, and with no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.

Benefits

Fewer Calories from Fat: Formulated to help large breed dogs reach and hold a healthy body condition.

Joint Support: Glucosamine and chondroitin support joint health and mobility on a bigger frame.

Real Meat First: Deboned chicken is the first ingredient, supplying protein to help maintain lean muscle while overall calories come down.

Wholesome Whole Grains: Brown rice and other whole grains provide complex carbohydrates and fiber, helping meals feel satisfying at a reduced calorie level.

LifeSource Bits: A cold-formed antioxidant, vitamin, and mineral blend supporting immune system health.

No Fillers: No corn, wheat, or soy, no poultry by-product meals, and nothing artificial.

Feeding Guidelines

Feed according to the chart on the bag, using your dog's target weight rather than current weight if weight loss is the goal, and adjust based on results. Split the daily amount into two meals and keep fresh water available.

Weigh your dog every few weeks. Gradual loss — roughly 1–2% of body weight per week — is the goal; faster isn't better. Treats and table food count toward the daily total and are usually what stalls progress.

If your dog is carrying significant excess weight, it's worth a conversation with your veterinarian before starting. Conditions like hypothyroidism can drive weight gain that no food change will fix, and a vet can set a realistic target weight for your dog's frame.

When switching from another food, transition over about 7 days, starting at roughly 25% new food and increasing every couple of days.

For adult large breed dogs. Store in a cool, dry place and keep the bag sealed for freshness.
