Albuterol Sulfate Inhalation Solution 0.083% — 2.5 mg/3 mL Unit-Dose Vials

Albuterol is a short-acting beta-adrenergic bronchodilator that relaxes the smooth muscle of the airways, opening constricted bronchial passages so the animal can move air more freely. In veterinary medicine, it's prescribed primarily for cats and horses, where it's used to relieve bronchospasm and cough associated with conditions such as feline asthma and equine asthma. True bronchoconstriction is uncommon in dogs, but albuterol may be prescribed when it is present. Onset is rapid, which makes it useful as a rescue medication during episodes of respiratory distress.

This is a nebulizer solution, not a metered-dose inhaler. It must be administered with a nebulizer machine, typically paired with a face mask or chamber sized for the animal.
