Adequan® i.m. Multi-Dose (polysulfated glycosaminoglycan) — 100 mg/mL, 50 mL Vial

Adequan i.m. Multi-Dose is a prescription injectable for horses with non-infectious degenerative and/or traumatic joint dysfunction and the lameness that comes with it in the carpal and hock joints. Its active ingredient, polysulfated glycosaminoglycan (PSGAG), is chemically similar to the glycosaminoglycans found in articular cartilage matrix. Manufactured by American Regent Animal Health and approved by the FDA under NADA #140-901. The 50 mL preserved multi-dose vial delivers 5,000 mg of PSGAG at 100 mg/mL — a practical option for barns managing a full treatment series or more than one horse under veterinary direction.

Key Details

  • Each mL contains 100 mg PSGAG, with benzyl alcohol 0.9% v/v as a preservative
  • 50 mL multi-dose glass vial (5,000 mg total)
  • For intramuscular use in horses only — not for intra-articular use
  • The vial stopper may be punctured a maximum of 10 times; use within 28 days of first puncture
  • Do not mix with other drugs or solvents
  • Store at 20–25°C (68–77°F); avoid prolonged exposure to temperatures at or above 40°C (104°F)

Dosing
The recommended dose is 500 mg every 4 days for 28 days intramuscularly (a total of 7 injections). Practice aseptic technique when withdrawing each dose, disinfect the stopper before entry, and use a new sterile needle each time. Follow your veterinarian's directions and see the package insert for complete dosing and administration information.
