Dorzolamide (dor-zoe-la-mode) is useful in managing glaucoma and for preventing the development of glaucoma in the normal eye of animals with glaucoma in the other eye.It works by decreasing the production of fluids within the eye by inhibiting a substance called carbonic anhydrase.
- Controls production of fluid within the eye
- Reduces pressure in the eye that Glaucoma can cause
Consult with your veterinarian for proper dosage and course of treatment.
This drug should not be used in patients that are allergic to it or to drugs like it (eg, sulfa drugs).
This drug should be used with caution in patients that have kidney disease or that are pregnant or nursing.
Food and Drug Interactions
Other drugs can interact with this medication, so be sure to tell your veterinarian and pharmacist what medications (including vitamins, supplements, or herbal therapies) you give your animal
Not for Human use.
Wash your hands before administering this medication.
Do not touch the dropper tip or allow it to touch your animalʼs eye or any other surface to prevent contamination.
Possible Side Effects
Side effect can include mild burning, stinging, irritation, or redness of the eyes, dry eyes, runny nose, nausea and vomiting.
Contact your veterinarian if you believe your pet is experiencing side effects.
