Product Description

Zymox Topical Cream combines the LP3 enzyme system used across the Zymox line with hydrocortisone 1% in a cream for localized skin problems.

The format is what makes it useful. A cream stays on a defined area, so it suits the spots that don't call for bathing the whole animal: a hot spot on a flank, a skin fold on the face or tail, a patch of irritated skin, or the area around an anal sac abscess that's already been opened by a veterinarian.

The hydrocortisone addresses the itch and inflammation, which matters because the licking and scratching a dog does to an irritated spot is usually what turns a small problem into a large one. Breaking that cycle is half the job.

How to Use

Clean and dry the area first unless your veterinarian directs otherwise; then apply a thin layer to the affected skin.

Keep your pet from licking the treated area while it absorbs. A few minutes of distraction usually does it, or a recovery cone for a persistent licker.

Apply as directed by your veterinarian. Wash your hands after use.

For hot spots, clipping the hair around the area first helps considerably. Moisture trapped under matted fur is what lets them spread.

Additional Information

For dogs and cats. For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not apply inside the ear canal. Store at room temperature. Keep out of reach of children.

Contains hydrocortisone. Tell your veterinarian if your pet is receiving corticosteroids elsewhere, or has diabetes or Cushing's disease. Extended use of a topical steroid over a large area can produce systemic effects and can thin the skin.

Discontinue and contact your veterinarian if the area worsens, spreads, becomes more painful, develops discharge or odor, or fails to improve.
