Zymox Plus is the advanced formula in the Zymox otic line, made for the ears that don't respond to anything else. It's aimed at stubborn otitis externa associated with microbes that form biofilm, including Pseudomonas, Staphylococcus aureus, coagulase-negative staphylococci, and MRSA.

Biofilm is the reason some ear infections keep coming back. Organisms in the canal build a protective layer around themselves that ordinary treatments struggle to penetrate, so the infection quiets down and then returns as soon as treatment stops. Zymox Plus increases the potency of the LP3 enzyme system and adds four more enzymes specifically to break down that biofilm and interrupt the cycle.

It includes hydrocortisone 1% for the inflammation, redness, and itching that come with a chronically irritated canal.

This is the formula to reach for when a pet has had repeated infections or an infection that simply won't resolve, not the one to start with on a first flare.

How to Use

Do not clean the ear before or during treatment. Do not use other ear cleaners, flushes, or medications at the same time. Cleaners disrupt the enzyme activity, and this instruction matters more with Zymox than with any other ear product.

Fill the ear canal with the solution and gently massage the base of the ear. Let your pet shake the head, and wipe only the outer ear if needed.

Use once daily, or as directed by your veterinarian, and continue for the full recommended course. Chronic ears usually need a longer course than acute ones.

Additional Information

For dogs and cats. For topical use in the ear only. Avoid contact with the eyes. Store as directed on the label. Keep out of reach of children.

Do not use if the eardrum is ruptured or you're unsure whether it's intact.

Contains hydrocortisone. Tell your veterinarian if your pet is receiving corticosteroids elsewhere, or has diabetes or Cushing's disease. The version without hydrocortisone is the alternative where a steroid isn't appropriate.
