Adequan i.m. Multi-Dose is a prescription injectable for horses with non-infectious degenerative and/or traumatic joint dysfunction and the lameness that comes with it in the carpal and hock joints. Its active ingredient, polysulfated glycosaminoglycan (PSGAG), is chemically similar to the glycosaminoglycans found in articular cartilage matrix. Manufactured by American Regent Animal Health and approved by the FDA under NADA #140-901. The 50 mL preserved multi-dose vial delivers 5,000 mg of PSGAG at 100 mg/mL — a practical option for barns managing a full treatment series or more than one horse under veterinary direction.

• Each mL contains 100 mg PSGAG, with benzyl alcohol 0.9% v/v as a preservative

• The vial stopper may be punctured a maximum of 10 times; use within 28 days of first puncture
• Do not mix with other drugs or solvents

Dosing
The recommended dose is 500 mg every 4 days for 28 days intramuscularly (a total of 7 injections). Practice aseptic technique when withdrawing each dose, disinfect the stopper before entry, and use a new sterile needle each time.
