Description

Methimazole (meth-im-a-zole) is given to lower thyroid hormone levels in cats. Methimazole can't stop the condition, it will help your cat feel better and improve their quality of life.

Warnings

This drug should not be used in patients that have had an allergic reaction to it or to other medications including: carbimazole, or polyethylene glycol.

Precautions

This drug should be used with caution in patients that have anemia, liver disease, kidney failure, or immune system problems. Also who are pregnant or nursing.

Food and Drug Interactions

Other drugs can interact with this medication, so be sure to tell your veterinarian and pharmacist what medications (including vitamins, supplements, or herbal therapies) you give your animal

Human Warnings

Not for human consumption. Keep away from children

 

Possible Side Effects

Methimazole is usually well tolerated, but side effects can occur; most happen in the first 3 months of therapy. Side effects include vomiting or
decreased appetite

Contact your veterinarian if you believe your pet is experiencing side effects.
