Sulfamethoxazole Trimethoprim (SMZ/TMP) Tablets

Warnings

This drug should not be used in patients that are allergic to either drug or other similar drugs (eg, sulfadimethoxine, ormetoprim). That have severe liver disease or blood problems. That are dehydrated

Precautions

This medications should be used with caution in animals that have liver, kidney, or thyroid disease.
Animals with or that have a history of kidney or bladder stones as they can be at higher risk for new stones with this drug.
Animals that are old, severely sick, or debilitated (weakened, frail)

Food and Drug Interactions

Other drugs can interact with this medication, so be sure to tell your veterinarian and pharmacist what medications (including vitamins, supplements, or herbal therapies) you give your animal

Human Warnings

Humans with severe allergies to sulfa compounds should avoid handling it or wear disposable gloves when giving it; wash hands after handling any medication.

Possible Side Effects

Dogs: Reduced appetite, vomiting, loose stools (diarrhea).
Cats: Reduced appetite, increased salivation after giving a dose.
Horses: Mildly loose stools.

Sulfamethoxazole 800 mg, Trimethoprim 160 mg. Inactive Ingredients: Magnesium stearate, povidone, pregelatinized starch and sodium starch glycolate.
