Meloxicam Tablets for Dogs

Warnings

Do not use on pets that have bloody stool or with pre-existing kidney and liver conditions.

Pets that are taking other NSAIDs (carprofen, etodolac, firocoxib, deracoxib), aspirin, or corticosteroids (prednisone, methylprednisolone, dexamethasone), there is a greater chance of adverse side effects to occur. Ask your veterinarian for more information.

Precautions

Use with caution in pets 6 months or younger, pets that have stomach or gastrointestinal ulcers or that have had them in the past, pets that are on diuretic treatment, have pre-existing heart problems, are pregnant, or have a bleeding disorder.

Food and Drug Interactions

Other medications can interact with Meloxicam. Be sure to disclose every medication and supplement that is given to your dog before starting Meloxicam

Given with food.

Ketoconazole should be given with food. Giving it with a fatty food such as butter, cream or cheese helps the drug to be absorbed.

Possible Side Effects

Meloxicam is usually tolerated well in pets.

Side effects that may become serious include vomiting, diarrhea including black tarry and bright red stool, weakness, decreased appetite or changes in skin (redness, scabs, itchiness)

Contact your veterinarian if you believe your pet is experiencing side effects.
