Description

Glipizide (glip-i-zide) is used in cats to treat type II diabetes. This medication lowers blood sugar working alongside a low carb diet, exercise and insulin therapy.

Warnings

This medication should not be used in cats with a severe form of diabetes known as, diabetic ketoacidosis, with low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), or that have insulin-resistant diabetes. Glipizide does not work in these cats.

Use with caution in pregnant or nursing cats

Other drugs can interact with this medication, so be sure to tell your veterinarian and pharmacist what medications (including vitamins, supplements, or herbal therapies) you give your animal

Human Warnings

Keep away from children and other animals. Not for Human consumption

 

Possible Side Effects

Approximately 15% of cats receiving Glipizide develop gastrointestinal (GI) side effects when starting the drug

Contact your veterinarian if you believe your pet is experiencing side effects.
