Description

Erythropoietin, a hormone made in the kidneys, stimulates red blood cell production in the body. With advanced kidney disease, this hormone is no longer made in sufficient amounts and results in low numbers of red blood cells (anemia). Retacrit is a synthetic form of the natural erythropoietin hormone, is used to treat dogs and cats with anemia caused by chronic kidney disease.
